Red Clay Artisan Bowls and Plates Handmade in Oaxaca, Mexico

These artisan bowls and plates are made of natural red clay (barro rojo) by a cooperative of women living in San Marcos Tlapazola. San Marcos Tlapazola is a rural Zapotec village of about 1,100 people about an hour outside of Oaxaca City, Mexico. For 20 generations, the village has specialized in making cookware and tableware out of the red clay found in that region by the potters who are all women.

The bowls are perfect for serving up salsas and dips, (or your morning yogurt or cereal) ; and the plates are great for serving limes wedges and salt with your mezcal and margaritas.

Because they are handmade, no two pieces are exactly the same. The bowls hold approximately 2.5 cups and measure 5 inches in diameter. The plates measure 6.5 inches in diameter.

Red clay products are made using traditional methods and are not chemically sealed, therefore they will absorb liquid and flavors of whatever you serve in them.
