These artisan mezcal copitas are made from the famous ‘black mud’ (aka barro negro) of Santa Maria Atzompa, Oaxaca, Mexico

Perfect for sipping mezcal or tequila, these clay shot glasses will make a stunning addition to your home or bar

Each clay cup is beautifully made from pure local clay which is gathered by hand, then burnished (polished by hand and stone), and finally burnt in a wood kiln using a technique based on oxygen reduction. The interiors remain unfinished. Because clay is porous, some liquid and aromas may be absorbed. For this reason it is recommended to rinse them in warm water to clean them, rather than using dish soap.

Because they are handmade, each clay cup will vary slightly in size, color and shape. Each one holds around 1.5 ounces and measures approximately 1” inch tall with a diameter of 2.25”

By purchasing this item, you are helping artisan communities in and around Oaxaca to be able to continue making a living through their craft.
